Over Boys Over Flowers

Ok, I got persuaded into watching this K-Drama ( thanks Jess! :P). I was planning to watch it, but not so soon. I must qualify though…even though I did get to the last episode, I skipped a few episodes and forwarded much of what I considered “boring” bits.

It is a familiar story which has been made into drama twice, so nothing much can be said of the storyline. I was quite surprised though with the acting of the leads as I thought the main point to this drama was the “visuals” – nice clothes, nice scenery, nice eye-candy… rather than the acting. The leads (Lee Min-ho & Koo Hye Sun ) did a pretty decent job. I must confess that I have never really liked the storyline very much as I find the “couple-in-love-can’t-be-together” theme “stressful” to watch even if it did have a happy ending with a large amount of eye candy!! I don’t like much angst when I am in “dramaland” and this show does have a lot of those moments ..sigh.

The soundtrack was also quite nicely done. I like SS501’s music ( and I didn’t realised that Ji Hoon Sunbae is in that group until much later!) and have discovered a new group AST’1. The music is great, even though some of the instrumental pieces seems oddly familiar…like from “Goong” soundtrack.

Do you want to learn Korean?

I want to make learning Korean one of my new year's resolution. Actually, it was my new year resolution for this year too. :) But there is an added incentive this year cos I found out that I could used my training budget from work to pay for it! Yeah!!!!! Free Korean classes!

Ok..most of you reading this would already know that I have enjoy watching K-dramas. I am not the only one in my family cos Steven also watches K-drama as well! He is a big fan of the Korean historical drama like "Jumong". I find the Korean language interesting cos many of the words and phrases sounds like Chinese dialects. Many times I can pick up words from K-dramas that I actually understand :). I figured that since I have the funds ...I might as well make full use of it right?

While many of you may think that I am just K-drama crazy ( I AM NOT ok!....) I am actually more interested in the Korean culture. I find it interesting to learn about how other people think, behave and act...especially when there are so many similarities to the Chinese culture. So.....anyone game to join me to learn Korean??

Busy Busy Bee

Who isn't right? But it was quite hectic for me for the last 2 weeks! Right before semester starts, there are usually lots of things to do. For me, it was training the new staff and preparing them for classes. As we had an unsually high number of new staff ( 108!), we had to double our training efforts. It was really tiring to be in training 4 days in a row......Class starts this week, and I have 3 classes this semester...which leaves me 2 days to grade and do other stuff. This also means that I don't have much time to do other stuff like BLOGGING!! ( Melina - which is why I am so slow.....).

Ok, I have to confess ...other than work that is occupying me...there is this one thing called "Coffee Prince 1st Shop". (will link this later to an English site!)It is Korean drama that recently ended its run in Korea in Aug. I started to watched it cos it had an interesting plot ( gal pretend to be guy to find work...fell in love with boss....typical K-drama stuff!) and I just wanted to relieve stress after all that training!! But was surprised with the non-typical twist in plots and also an extremely wonderful soundtrack! I think I like the soundtrack more that than the show at times. I can't really find the offical MV for the Korean pieces, but I manage to find some Fan made MV with the theme song....
